Q: How will be the PMP exam conducted?

A: It’s an Online exam, conducted in prometric testing centers. The exam is for 4 hours with 200 multiple choice questions, out of which one need to answer 106 questions correctly on an evaluated base of 175 questions. 25 pre-test questions answers are not included in the score even if they are right answers.

Q: As per a friend of mine, PMI is to update the PMBOK® Guide from 4th to 5th edition in beginning of 2012 (in the near future). Can you please give me a confirmation as to when this upgrading will happen?

A: We heard that most likely the PMBOK® Guide 5th Ed. is not expected to be released in the very near future. You can expect it to be released towards the end of 2012/beginning of 2013 only. Hence, you can plan your PMP certification course& Examination accordingly without any fear now.

Moreover, once the PMBOK Edition changes, the certification that you hold by clearing the older edition exam stills holds good. You need not reappear for the exam once the new edition is released. Hence, your taking the exam in the 4th edition should not have any impact on your certification, when the 5th Ed. comes in.

Hopes this clarifies your doubt.
